Hey there Ultimate Fans,

For the 3rd year running Hangzhou Ultimate Frisbee Club is going to be hosting our very own home grown hat tournament.

For those who don't know, Hangzhou is one of China's most scenic cities. It's just a 40 minute bullet train ride S-W of Shanghai near the central eastern coast of the Chinese mainland.

After humble beginnings with 4 teams of players enjoying themselves in 2011, we really let our hair down in 2012 with almost 150 players (10 teams) coming from all over China (and beyond!) for 2 days of super fun Ultimate. It was awesome!

Under the watchful eye of our new tournament director, the inimitable Kevin Reitz, in 2012 we had 10 evenly matched hat teams (it's not easy to do!). Every team in both pools (The Goblin Round Robin and The Ghoul Pool) won at least one game on Day 1, which doesn't always happen despite an organisers' best intentions... So, by the end of the tournament we had lots of very positive feedback about players' good experiences whether they were a new player or a seasoned advanced player.

In fact, for all you new players out there, hat tournaments are a great experience since your team Captain and the other experienced players will be passing on heaps of great Ultimate strategies and tips in order to get their team performing like a well-oiled machine as quickly as possible.

But, I digress... Ahem.

Now, in 2013, we aim to keep the high standard of last year, and, in fact, fine tune a few things to make the event run even more smoothly than last year. It will be awesomely awesome!

Rough Schedule

Fri, 1 Nov - Pre-Party + Hat Teams drawing (Attendence is optional)
Sat, 2 Nov - Pool play + H4 Dinner and Party (Be there or be square! Friends may join us for a fee)
Sun, 3 Nov - Cross-over games + Playoffs + Finals + Prize ceremony

The H4 event handbook with info on the tournament format, suggested hotels and other important details will be emailed to you after you register.

PS. We will have another SPOOKTACULAR costume party on the Saturday night too! Guests will be welcome, but they will have to pay the dinner fee.
